The Berlin-based technology company cargomotion develops an AI-powered sales solution for freight forwarders – and has hired one of the logistics tech industry’s well-known sales leaders and former TIMOCOM manager
Berlin, October 19, 2026 – cargomotion, the Berlin-based software company behind the AI sales solution for freight forwarders, is expanding its leadership team: Steven Van Cauteren will assume the position of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) in November. With cargomotion, freight forwarders can improve the quality of their revenue while reducing sales efforts – through intelligent pricing, digital customer portals, and AI agents. Its customers include established logistics companies and ambitious mid-sized firms from across Europe.
Van Cauteren brings more than 15 years of experience in logistics technology sales. During his more than 13 years at TIMOCOM, he expanded the international key account and partner business and was most recently responsible for sales of visibility solutions as well as the European key account business. Since 2024, he has served as Director of Sales at Peripass, a yard management specialist. As CRO at cargomotion, he will assume commercial responsibility and is tasked with driving growth in Europe.
“We are very pleased that we were able to convince Steven – a proven expert and well-known figure in the industry – that with cargomotion, we are working on something the market truly needs,” says Philipp Ortwein, co-founder and managing director of cargomotion. “Over many years, he has seen firsthand why digital solutions in freight forwarding fail and what makes them successful. He is now bringing exactly that knowledge to us.”
With this new addition, cargomotion continues to build a leadership team that brings together the expertise of top minds in the logistics tech industry. The founders have built InstaFreight, one of Europe’s largest digital freight forwarders. Other executives bring many years of experience from leading technology companies in the logistics industry, such as sennder.
“Freight forwarders today have the opportunity to set themselves apart from the competition through digital services – and they don’t need years-long IT projects to do so,” says Steven Van Cauteren. “cargomotion enables consistent pricing information across all channels and branches, intelligent pricing recommendations for dispatchers, and seamless transport ordering – all integrated into existing transport management systems. This combination of tangible customer value and technological innovation is what convinced me.”
“We understand the challenges of the freight forwarding industry from our own operational experience,” says Maximilian Schäfer, co-founder and managing director of cargomotion. “We know where dispatchers, sales teams, and customers lose time and profit margins every day. With Steven, we now have a partner on board who will work with us to bring this solution to market. Our goal is clear: cargomotion will be the technology partner that helps Europe’s freight forwarders shape their business over the next ten years.”
